Everyone is present.

I forgot to mention that yesterday (Tues) we uploaded a version of our video on YouTube. Howver, it is not the final version we have.

Today, Tara recorded a voice over but the group decided the the use for a voice over is not necessary so we're just not going ot use it. THe video is satisfactory enough for the group and the voice over would not do any justice to the movie. It did not seem like there was any effort put in it. Vivan recorded a more lively version of the voice over. However, just like Tara's, it did not made the video.

We added an extra clip to our movie and changed the audio settings that would fit better with the movie.

I tried to save the iMovie file as a DV but it did'nt fit on my USB so I just saved the .mov file. It's not the best quality.. but that's okay.

The group wrote our duties and responsibilities on Josie's blog. I believe the older version of the video is linked there.

I think that's all.

Vivan is away

Today, we started wrapping up or video. We finished incorporating the right HP clips onto our movie and made it our own. We inserted the MUSIC and edited the clips further in terms of video FX and such.

A bit of drama today concerning Tara but really.. I don't know what to do with the situation. We offered her to do things but she declined to do anything. So, its not up to the rest of the group that she didn't do anything. Seriously.. she can't turn this around and blame it on US. Geez.

Umm... the video is basically done and all we need to do is do the voice over.
To be quite honest, I don't think that the voice over is necessary but since Tara did'nt do much, I guess she has to do the voice over just so she actually did something.

Everybody is present :)

Today, I brought in the graphics for our video project.
We basically put together all our clips including some excerpts from the actual Harry Potter trailer. So far, the transition is a bit choppy but we're hoping that when we put the music and voice over, it will be less noticable.

The video at the moment is about 2:20 minutes long - which is where we want it to be.
The video FX seems to be working well with our clips except for some parts that we can't really fix like for example the preview sign and the coming soon and what not.
We don't want the stills/pictures to automatically start zooming in. It would be better to be just a still and not do anything because frankly, it just ruins the graphic and you can't read everything on it.

Hmm.. what else?

I have to make two more signs for our movie

AND

Vivan is bringing the soundtrack tomorrow and Tara is going to record the voice over for the trailer..

C'est tout.

VENDREDI!!!!!
(Mr. Sir is away, Mr. Vandersteen supplied)

Today, only Josie, Alyssa, and myself were present for class (Eryka, Vivian and Tara were away) So, it was up to the three of us to continue working on our movie. We further condensed our clips from 1:25 to about 55 seconds. We realized we had a lot of unecessary clips and it would make more sense for a trailer to be under a minute.

We watched the second Harry POtter movie trailer for inspiration. (YouTube as represented by Numa Numa Kid)
It was only after we watched the trailer that we realized that movie trailers dont put scenes chronologically. So then, we rearranged our clips, jotted notes down and came up with a voice over as there would be in a real trailer.

The voice over, graphics and transition are set to be inserted on Monday.
Also, we are going to put video FX on Tuesday.

Back in the ROOOM today! YAYYYYYYYYYY.

So today, Josie and Vivan were away so it was up to Alyssa, Tara, Eryka, and myself to continue working on our project.

WE did not have a lot of class time to work because of the alternate schedule for today. We only had 45 minutes to work and about 5-8 minutes was spent setting up the Mac and switching with another group who mistakenly took our computer.

We continued on editing our movie. We got rid of unecessary clips and tried to condense the content of our video. We started inserting transitions for the clips however, we could not save it with the transition because we wanted to figure out each transition before we put it together. So far, we got a good chunk of our video put together (although not yet pieced as one). We would edit a bunch of clips that would go together as one scene and then move on to the next scene.

We would have to put the scenes together by Monday because by then, we would have hopefully figured out the graphics and whatnot.

Worst Case Scenario would be that we wouldn't have the graphics by MOnday. I guess we can just put background music Monday and Graphics Tuesday. But, we'll see. We seem to have lost a lot of class time to work on our project. Tomorrow (thursday), there is a mass and closing assembly so we don't get ANY class time to work at all.
Friday would be our last day this week to continue editing clips.

I'm hoping that we choose our background music by then and start putting the video together.

Another long entry by Kim.
SO once again, I shall stop writing
MAINTENANT.

It's MARDI!!

The group (except Eryka who was away) continued working on our movie.
We were yet again in Ms. Tarrarran's room so it took a bit of class time to set up the Mac. We lost a bit of time to work on our movie but, what could we have done? She needed the projector thingy.

Anyways, the group finished editing all our clips and all we had to do is put it together and add our graphics, music effects, and voice overs. We did not get to do much except editing clips but we started planning what else we were going to do for the trailer/movie. Since the movie was originally due for Wednesday the 4th, we wanted to save the clips onto a CD so either me or Vivan can work on it at home. But then we had no luck. It would take a while to burn our files onto the CD but also, we figured it would be better to burn a DVD so we can have chapters and such.
THe problem was that Mr. Padilla didn't have a DVD so we couldn't obviously back-up oru files. I tried saving it on my USB but the files were too large. Anyway, it would have taken a long time since the files were in iMovie format. I would have to change it to Quicktime then into an MPEG so that I can use Microsoft Windows Movie Maker. I would have to do a lot of converting back and forth and unfortunately, I would have taken a reaaaaaaaaally long time to do. Plus, Vivan would probably end up doing the same thing.

So we decided to just work on the movie at school.
On wednesday, we wouldnt have a lot of time to work on it because of the Non-Academic Assembly going on. Hopefully Friday we can put the clips together finally and put transition effects. For Monday, all we would have to do is put graphics, music, and voice overs.

Wow, what a long entry.
And for that, I will end it
NOW.

(Class moved to Ms. Tararran's Room)

Today, my group uploaded the clips onto the Mac.
It took a while to do it because first, the battery was dying, and second, the chord when a.w.o.l. But after we resolved that, my group and I started editing our clips.
We got rid of some clips that we weren't going ot sue and tried to trim different clips of the same content so that there would be variations in angles for our video.
None of the group members really knew how to use the Mac so we sort of took that day to get familiarized with the programs.

Since the group took a long time trying to upload the clips, we only had about 20 minutes to actually edit our movie. The rest would be continued for the next class.

End.

YAYYYYY!
It's friday!

Today, my group and I finished filming clips for our Harry Potter spoof.
I can't say my acting was at its greatest but at least its done.

We shot the Voldemort-Harry "fighting" sequence.
We definetely got a lot of bloopers from that.
AND also a VARIETY of shots we can work with.

Hm... what else?
Oh, we also shot the "wall" scene and yes...thats it.

Since the video clips are done, we just need to do voice over and editing.

HOOOORAH for the weekend. :)

Thursday, May 29. 2008

Okay so today, my group and I started filming our video project.
We got about 2 or 3 scenes done and we just need to edit them.

We did the car scene and even though it was kind of a struggle to get the shot, we got through it.
I realize that my group probably picked the toughest thing to spoof - I mean, its Harry Potter.
It's full of visual effects and it has a gazillion wesome props.

But, our group has to work with whatever we have.
We just have to make the best out of everything and hopefully it'll be good enough.

Other than that, there wasnt anything else needed to be done.
Except this blog..

Magazine Cover - Ambience

Bono is a great person. If anyone deserved a magazine cover - it'd be him.
He is really involved in the world -- poverty, and most especially Africa poverty, HIV/AIDS. TO be a good musician and an inspiring activist -- now that is rare.

Adbuster Spoof - Dove

Places such as Hollywood are concetrated with people, especially women, who are obessesed with their outer appearances. The adverstisements, movies, and media in general does not really help promote a good, ideal image that most people should admire. Instead, we are surrounded by almost anorexic models that most teenage girls seems to think to be 'ideal' where in reality, it exposes a negative, and unrealistic mindset for people. Also, we are surrouded with celebrities who are "beautiful" not naturally, but because they had procedures done.

I decided to spoof the Dove Real Beauty Campaign because most people, especially the younger generation base their idea of "real beauty" on the media which often portray the opposite of what "real beauty" is. For my spoof, I included Donatella Versace, a woman known for her obsessive cosmetic procedures such as botox, and lip collagen implants. The world should know that beauty is not a result of plastic surgery. Beauty is not just on the outside, it is also in the inside.

People should not idolize the PLASTICS of Hollywood - get REAL!

Dream Collage

Explanation:
This dream is probably from when I was about 6 or 7 years old. In fact, this is probably the only dream that I remember vividly.
In the dream, my brother and I are looking for our mom. I remember that we were in a crowd of people and somehow we lost track of our mother and so, we became worried and confused. All we had was each other and we coudn't ask people for help because in the dream, time stopped as represented by the numbers falling of Big Ben. Soon after, my brother and I started running through a crowd until we found a treasure map leading us to mom. However, the map was very confusing. It lead us to a strange path where we were faced with confusing road signs similar to the one in Alice In Wonderland. The signs told us to go in many different directions: this way, that way, no entry, etc. We didn't know which way to go so we just followed to sign which said, "MOM THIS WAY." Although we wanted to follow the said direction, my brother and I were scared. There were ghosts, goblins, zombies and skeleton along that way. Even though we really wanted to get to our mom, we were faced with a big decision. Considering we were little kids in the dream, we could not decide whether or not we should follow the path or just end our search for our mom. This is why there are kids in the middle of the path.
I decided to put a hand in the sky through a broken glass. This is to symbolize the fact that in the dream, I felt as though we were dolls and that everything was surreal. Things didn't go the way I would have done it in real life-I would not have thought twice about whether or not I should look for my mom. In the dream, it felt as though people were controlling my brother and I's actions and somehow, people were watching us. So to show this, I decided to put a hand and also I put the dream scene in a television set. The dream was very unrealistic and it seemed as though it was planned. Since the dream reminded me of weird, television shows that just didn't make sense, it became reasonable for me to showcase my dream as if it was a show for others to enjoy.

In short, my brother and I were on a quest looking for our mother, but since we saw ghosts and other evil forces, we though twice about whether or not we should continue our search. I never really knew how the dream ended. I must have woken up just before my dream continued.

Exercise # 5

Forget the traditional "dymo" labelling tool, or even those fancy sticker labels - all you need is Photoshop! By manipulating layers and images, you can put anything you want on almost everything you can find!

Gondola~
Using the saturated tool, and the magic of the wand tool, what started as a boring gondola scene was transformed into a breathtaking and calming scenery. The added touch of sunlight and clouds really does emphasize the exoticism of Venetian architecture and history.

Excercise # 3

Mr. Melon Man ~ Talk about food fight! Just as you would throw food at other people, by Using Photoshop Elements, different pieces of food were put together to create Mr. Melon! Hmm.. if only every food fight could create pieces like this instead of a mess!
***
The tools such as magnetic lasso and eliptical tool were used to isolate different parts of the food.
Also, by layering the parts, you could simply move things around and make sure that Mr. Melon looks his best.

What is media?

Media is the form of transmission of an idea.
It is used to project a thought you have so others can interpret it.
It comes in different forms.
Media includes television, movies, advertisements, magazines and more.
In my point, media is the source of all art.
WIthout media, art would not be transmitted and thus, it would be limited to it's creator.
A world without media would be a dull world.
We'd live, breath and interact with each other, but we wouldn't have a sense of creativity.
We would not be provided with inspirations to express ourselves.
Thank God for media, otherwise, I wouldn't be in this class!

COLLAGE
The gradient tool makes any collage look surreal and even more appealing. This collage made using Photoshop Elements is a combination of a few different objects and yet, it is unified into one. It emphasizes the wonder one can do with programs such as Photoshop - a collage made with different pictures ( that may or may not relate with each other) can look good together.

What is art?

According to Britannica Online, art is the "use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences that can be shared with others."

Personally, I think of art as a way to express oneself. You can't really explain the meaning of art because even though you can show people what you've created, it does not accurately reflect how the artist felt when they created their piece. They may imagine or somewhat understand the motive behind your creation, however, since art is ultimately the expression of oneself, I think that art cannot be fully understood by others. Unless you explain in detail your inspirations, how your ideas come to be and such, the art that a person creates is ultimately only understood by its creator. Just as kids create art of their own, adults do not really have a full insight as to what the children creates, even so, they appreciate it. Art can be appreciated without knowing the story behind it, but personally, I think that it is this aspect that makes art such a strong way to express oneself. It visually excites and can tell a great tale. This is my definition of art, but

This is what we did in day 1.
Pretty creative, no?
What started as an "ugly doll" turned into the "MEDIA ARTS doll."
The class took turn adding their own creative element to the picture.
Although it didn't turn out the way I had planned it in my mind,
I guess it really showcases the creative minds in the class.
Like come on, the dog is rocking pink/green hair!
